During the productive weekend, the board discussed a range of topics, including financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic growth initiatives. With a focus on maintaining the organization’s strong track record of success, the board outlined a comprehensive plan to guide the charity through the coming months and years. Stay tuned for updates on the exciting developments to come!

In the year 2023, the board of directors of the organization, led by Ronnie Jones, Tim Estenson, Jackie Mitchell, Tom Seymour, Chris Carter, Brad Baker, and Tommy Duma, implemented significant changes to ensure the foundation’s sustainability for generations to come. These changes included a name change, strategic partnerships, an advisory board, reduced travel expenses, and increased payouts. The foundation’s new business model promises exciting prospects for the upcoming year and beyond.

We understand the significance of our work and recognize the importance of ensuring our continued operation. That’s why our primary objective is to guarantee the long-term sustainability of our organization. By doing so, we can continue to help racers get back on their feet and navigate the challenges they face in their personal lives. We remain committed to our mission and will continue to work tirelessly to achieve our goals. This new business model will enable us to enhance and expand upon our existing programs while also exploring innovative ways to make an even greater difference in their lives.
Name Change: Back on Track, formerly known as Rookies of ’79. The charity’s new name reflects our commitment to helping individuals get back on track towards a brighter future.

Advisory Board: We have taken a step towards achieving its long-term sustainability goals by establishing an Advisory Board of Directors. Comprised of prominent figures in the racing community, including Kenny Roberts, Wayne Rainey, Scott Parker, and Bubba Shobert, among others, the board will provide valuable feedback for strategic decisions and offer support and guidance. With the input of these respected individuals, the organization is poised to make significant strides toward a bright future.

Increased Payouts: We significantly increased the Schedule of Benefits it provides to injured racers, almost doubling the Schedule of Benefits. This move is aimed at providing better support and financial assistance to injured racers, helping them to recover and get back on track. The increased Schedule of Benefits includes coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, and other related costs.

Official Charity of MotoAmerica: We are proud to announce that our organization has been named the Official Charity of MotoAmerica, a major milestone that will allow us to extend our support to injured road racers. This partnership will enable us to provide much-needed assistance to those who have been injured while pursuing their passion for motorsports. Our goal is to ensure that injured riders receive the care and support they need to get back on their feet and continue racing.

2023 Impact: As of the end of October, Back on Track has provided financial support to over 60 injured amateur and pro flat track and road racers, exceeding $130,000. The organization’s efforts have enabled these racers to continue pursuing their passion for motorsports, despite the financial hardships caused by their injuries.

Financial Management: The organization has set a new standard for financial success by achieving a remarkable 40% increase in income and a phenomenal 66% reduction in expenses year after year. As a result, the operating expenses ratio has been reduced from 86% to an impressive 36%, indicating positive and sustainable financial health. With this remarkable financial growth and stability, the organization is well-positioned to continue to thrive and make a significant impact in the industry.

Your partnership and generosity have been critical to our success. As we move forward, we remain committed to providing exceptional service and delivering innovative solutions that meet your evolving needs. Thank you for being a valued member of our racing community.

The charity, originally founded in 2009, has provided financial assistance to injured motorcycle racers and their families when racing accidents occur. It was led by Charlie Roberts, who served as the Executive Director for 12 years. Many of his initiatives continue through today.

Back on Track is a benevolent charity formed by a group of racers and industry-related volunteers with a mission to provide financial assistance for racers and their families when a racing injury occurs. This mission is primarily accomplished by donations, sales of charity merchandise, and raffles of donated items through the charity’s website and auctions.

Since the parent charity was formed in 2009 and incorporated in 2013 as a Non-Profit 501 (C) (3) charity, it has paid out more than $1,000,000 in accordance with the standardized payout schedule, posted www.backontrack79.com, and from special funds created to provide assistance for injuries that substantially exceed the published payout schedule.
